Sri Lanka is yet to rightly tap the rich ayurveda wellness global market which is growing rapidly, said Browns Hotels & Resorts, CEO, Eksath Wijeratne.
He was speaking at the opening of the Luxury ayurveda wellness resort, Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort in Sigiriya last week.
“Wellness tourism has consistently outperformed the overall tourism industry for over a decade, reflecting a growing global interest in travel that goes beyond leisure to offer rejuvenation and holistic well-being,” Wijeratne said.
He said that the annual value of this industry is around USD 812 billion and is growing at 12 to 14% each year.
In a captivating reimagining of luxury wellness tourism, Browns Hotels & Resorts unveiled the exquisite Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort Sigiriya and are marketing the property at around USD 450 per day wrapped with a wellness package heralding a new chapter in the Ayurveda wellness tourism landscape in Sri Lanka.
“Sri Lanka attracted around USD 2 billion in revenue from tourism receipts last year and this year the target is to touch the USD 4 billion mark. We hope that through Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort we too can contribute towards achieving this target,” Wijeratne said.
