Over 1,238 suspects of 89 errant foreign job agencies who had deceived foreign job seekers during the past 18 months have been taken in for questioning by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) and the Police.
The errant job agents had deceived the job seekers to the tune of about Rs. 450 million. Most of the job seekers were from Negombo, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Chilaw, Colombo, Galle and the Matara district.
Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakara has instructed the SLBFE to nab these errant job agents and take legal action against them since they cheat prospective job seekers and sully the good name of the SLBFE.
