More sponsorship for athletes

The Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association and the sponsors for athletics Ritzbury has once again agreed to sponsor 15 athletes with Rs. 10,000 monthly for a period of one year.

The athletes will be chosen from among the winners at the 53rd Sri John Tarbat Junior Athletic Championship and the 92nd Senior Athletic Championship.

CBL Foods International under the brand of Ritzbury has once again come forward to sponsor these two events for the 12th consecutive year.

The aim of Ritzbury is to help develop school athletes to the national level according to Nilupul de Silva, General Manager of CBL Foods International.

The junior meet will cater to athletes in the age categories of under-11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. The meets will also be held in two new venues like in Jaffna and Batticaloa to promote the sport.

Additionally, meets will also be held in the Eastern province and Polonnaruwa district. The meet will be held at the Weber Stadium in Batticaloa on August 3 and 4.

The events for athletes in the Central and North Western provinces and Gampaha district will be held at the Wennappuwa Public ground from July 12 to 14.

Athletes from the Kalutara and Colombo districts will have to compete at the Bandaragama Public ground from July 26 to 28.

Athletes from the Southern, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces will be in action at the Embilipitiya Mahaweli ground to compete from August 10 to 12.
