NERD Centre marks 50th anniversary

The National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERD) celebrates its 50 anniversary this year.

A stall is arranged to showcase the civil engineering consultancies, products and technologies developed by NERD Centre at the International Industry Expo 2024 which ends today.

This is the right place for people seeking innovative solutions or expert insights.

The ceremonial inauguration on Day two was by State Minister of Technology Kanaka Herath, who honoured NERD by launching several innovative products such as pure sine wave inverter, electric three-wheeler, electronic scale, elephant fence energiser developed by NERD Centre.

The Sri Lanka Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts has issued a Special Commemorative Cover with a Special Postage Stamp to honour the 50 years of Research and Development Excellence of the National Engineering Research and Development Centre of Sri Lanka.

This historic occasion was enriched by the presence of senior officials from the Department of Post, officials from the Research and Innovation Division of the Ministry of Education, former NERDC Management representatives, all the esteemed guests of the NERDC 50th Anniversary celebration event, and the dedicated staff of NERD Centre.

The event was graced by officials of the Ministry of Education, alongside the Chairman of IDB, venue sponsor and collaborative partner.

Also in attendance were former managements of NERDC, institute representatives, sponsors, technology licensees, professionals, stakeholders, Chairman, Director General, and the dedicated staff of NERD Centre.
