Work on the construction of an indoor stadium and auditorium worth Rs.100 million at St. Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa commenced on June 19 under the patronage of Sports Minister Harin Fernando.
The Minister said that the work will be completed within 90 days based on the financial contribution made by the Sports Development Department of the Ministry and the contribution of everyone, including the school community without political involvement.
Addressing the ceremony, the Minister further stated that the students of St. Joseph Vaz College, despite not having stadium facilities, have been able to participate in the Olympic Games and even be selected for the under-19 Sri Lankan cricket team.
