The UAE Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently organised its Annual Get Together and Members’ Night — CA Gala 2024 — at the Millennium Plaza Downtown Hotel, Dubai, making it an evening of unforgettable celebration, connection, and commitment to helping the underprivileged.
The event, which attracted a large number of business leaders, c-suite executives, and senior Sri Lankan Chartered Accountants holding influential positions in the UAE, was graced by Heshana Kuruppu, President of CA Sri Lanka, and the Alexi Gunasekera, the Consulate General of Sri Lanka, Dubai, and the Northern Emirates.
The event was boosted with a voice note delivered by Udaya Indrarathna, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Iraq, and Kurdistan.
This year’s gala was particularly significant as it marked the first members’ get-together organised by the chapter post-Covid.
The event embraced a significant cause, with the CA Sri Lanka UAE Chapter partnering with the Young Chartered Accountants Forum (YCAF) of CA Sri Lanka in their CSR initiative “Hope for Little Hearts,” in collaboration with the Indira Cancer Trust, to support children battling cancer.
The UAE chapter, with the support of members, sponsors, and chapter contributions, donated Rs. 1,000,000 towards the worthy cause. The cheque was handed over to Kuruppu during the event.
