Dinuth Chandul Weerasinghe, a Grade 9 student at Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Kottawa, crafted a Poson lantern and displayed it at the recent Maththegoda Poson Poya celebrations.

With the help of his friends Gihan Sanjula, Dinuth Chandula, Ravindu Ridma, Hiran Kavinda, Yasiru Kavinda, Lasith Lankanath, Chirath Vidusha, Sanjali Nawandana, Sathumi Chathurangi, and Kanishka Samarasinghe, Dinuth created this lantern for the event.

The intricate design and colours of the lantern reflected the importance of Poson. Dinuth’s work earned admiration from participants and visitors.

The Poson lantern exhibition, held from June 21 to 23 at Hirigampamunuwa, Maththegoda, offered a platform for young artists like Dinuth to showcase their talents and celebrate Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage.
