The annual Burdett Trophy golf tournament, inaugurated in 1902 will be held on July 6 at the NEGC Golf Course, Nuwara Eliya.
This year, the 121st Burdett Trophy for men and the 85th Puffin Cup for women will be played on the same day. The NEGC team will be led by veteran golfer Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama while Amrith De Zoysa will lead the RCGC team.
In addition to the above events, the tournament will also have a Masters Trophy and 125th Anniversary Trophy as well according to the organisers.
An event for junior golfers will be introduced by both clubs at a momentous first time from this year.
“This event is introduced to foster the young players who aspire to play in international competitions in the future. Many young players have gone on to represent Sri Lanka at International level,” said Avanka Herath president of RCGC.
The junior golfers event will be the first on the cards to be played on Friday and SLT Mobitel are the sponsors of the championship.
