Piliyandala Central came up with a surprising display of rugby to outsmart St. Sylvester’s College by 22 points to 20 in their inter-school rugby encounter played at Bogambara yesterday.
Their 22 points came up from four tries and a conversion while the losers scored three tries, one conversion and a penalty.
The scores were 10-all at half time.
The Sylvestrians had Piliyandala Central on the defensive on and off and were unfortunate not to score more points due to the superb defence put up by Piliyandala Central. St. Sylvester’s pulled off an easy 12 points to nil in their under-12 game played earlier.
But Piliyandala Central had a good win over St. Sylvester’s by 10 points to 5 in the under-14 game.
The under-16 game ended in a 12-all draw.
