MP Dilan Perera’s vehicle was involved in a minor accident on the Southern Expressway from Colombo proceeding towards Matara yesterday, the police said.

The accident occurred around 3 p.m. when Perera’s vehicle suddenly veered off the road and collided with the safety fence of the Expressway at the 28.1 km post. A person travelling in the vehicle suffered a minor injury and was admitted to the Nagoda Hospital. The MP was unharmed, police said.

In another incident, former Minister Rishard Bathiudeen’s vehicle was involved in an accident in the Karuwalagaswewa area yesterday.

Bathiudeen’s SUV collided with a motorcycle when he entered the road from a petrol station, police said. No one was harmed in this instance, and the matter was settled on the spot after Bathiudeen agreed to pay the motorcyclist for the damage caused by the accident, police said.
