In his exhibition ‘Hope II,’ Sivasubramaniam Kajendran continues his exploration into the resilience that emerges in a land and people scarred by conflict and loss.

Ashened figures are set against a burnt yellow background, remnants contending with the traumatic aftermath. Despite these lived experiences a common thread of optimism shines through in the vibrant strokes of the artist’s brush.

This latest body of work reflects the artist’s aspiration for a world not defined by its history of conflict or looming threats of violence, but by the unexpected potential of what lies ahead.

Kajendran is a multidisciplinary artist from Mullaitivu. He graduated from the University of Jaffna in 2014 with a degree in Fine Arts (Art History) and has a Master’s degree in Art and Design from the Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, Pakistan.

His art exhibition ‘Hope II’ at Paradise Gallery ends on July 31.
