The Postal Department will deploy around 8,000 employees to distribute polling cards to the voters countrywide for the forthcoming Presidential Election.

Deputy Post Master General Rajitha Ranasinghe in a circular has informed this to all post offices countrywide. He has stated in the circular that special arrangements are being made to distribute normal postal letters by employing additional staff.

“Although the Grama Niladharies countrywide are now engaged in a “work to rule” campaign while serving the public, they would extend their fullest cooperation continuously to make the official duties of the Presidential Election a success, President of Sri Lanka Eksath Grama Niladhari Sangamaya, Nandana Ranasinghe said.

The annual transfers – 2025 for senior public servants can be implemented by the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government and the National Election Commission (NEC) has informed the Ministry of Public Administration that there is no objection by the NEC if such process of annual transfers is carried out without any inconvenience to the forthcoming Presidential Election.

The announcement of the annual transfers of public servants for 2025 has already been released by the Ministry of Public Administration to Ministries, Kurunegala District Senior Divisional Secretary, Administration, R.M. Jayaratne said.
