The boxing community in Sri Lanka was in shock after the sudden death of veteran official T. Nalin Thajudeen yesterday.

An international boxing referee and accomplished boxing coach, he served Air Force and Sri Lanka boxing with dedication.

Thajudeen was amiable personality who performed any task entrusted to him with a smile and was a former Treasurer of the Sri Lanka Amateur Boxing Coaches Association. He was also a committee member of the Boxing Referees and Judges Association.

A retired Air Force Warrant Officer, Thajudeen, 65, was the command Physical training instructor for over five years and won the most dedicated sports manager award at Air Force in 2005.

Winner of Air Force Colours in boxing and national referee and Judge since 1993, he was the manager of Air Force team which won Clifford Cup after many years and Nationals in 1999. He was in the defence services champion team from 2003 to 2005 and 2010. (AO)
