Sanasa Life Insurance launched a new insurance cover on August 1.

This insurance policy provides cover for the skydivers from the point of jumping off the airplane in the sky, till the participant lands on the ground safely. This policy covers the participants from any form of injury or even in the unlikely event of death.

Following the recent economic crisis faced in the country, Sri Lanka has been making strides to promote and grow the tourism trade. The promotion of adventure sports has been gaining momentum and shows no signs of slowing down. Outdoor and extreme sports are proving to be more and more popular not only among foreign tourists, but locals as well.

Tandem Para Jumping is where two people, the instructor, and a sportsperson, jump off an airplane together strapped to one another. Halfway through the descent, the instructor opensthe parachute and they come gliding down until they reach the safety of the ground. Although tandem parajumping is a growing genre of extreme adventure sports for thrill-seekers, it also comes with a fair share of risks.

As with any extreme sport such as this, there is always the potential for accidents to occur. Sanasa Life Insurance recognised the vital role insurance could play in protecting these sportsmen and women during their daring jumps.

The chief guest at the product launch, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa said, “This unique and thrilling sport is a great way to put Sri Lanka as an adventure destination on the map.Our teams are well-trained experts who will see to all the safety aspects of the sport, ensuring the tourists get aonce-in-a-lifetime thrilling experience. The safety of the participants and instructors is our highest priority. We are glad to have Sanasa Life Insurance by our side assuring the jumpers that they are in good hands.” CEO of Sanasa Life Insurance, Ivan Nicolas said, “We are proud to be associated with a sport that has gained huge popularity around the world, and now in Sri Lanka as well. After all, these are high-risk sporting activities and the participants should at least have the peace of mind to enjoy the sport without having to worry about what may happen in the event of an accident. This unique policy provides total cover for any injuries or even worse in the event of an unforeseen and unfortunate incident.”

Innovative thinking has been the baseline for Sanasa Life Insurance’s successes through the years. And this is no exception. The insurance package for tandem jumpers is a virtual‘safety net’, and no doubt will continue to attract more people to the sport knowing that they are in safe hands, no matter what, he said.
