Union Chemicals Lanka wins Bronze award

 Managing Director, Union Chemicals Lanka, Gamini Gunasekera receives the award.

Union Chemicals Lanka PLC won the Bronze award in the Chemical Industry category for its excellent contribution toward environmental conservation, at the Presidential Environment Awards 2024, organised by the Central Environmental Authority.

The company is certified for ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management system standard and ISO 14001:2015 Environment Management system standard by SLSI. It follows Responsible Care guidelines applicable for Chemical Manufacturing and has the honour of holding the Responsible Care logo offered by Sri Lanka Responsible Care Council. It achieved “Eco label” recognition for water based wood coatings under Type 1 Eco labelling scheme, based on ISO 14024:2018 Environment labels and declarations.

Union Chemicals product portfolio comprises binders for interior and exterior decorative paints, wall fillers, joint compounds, roof coatings and waterproofing paints. It also supplies a range of adhesives, pigment dispersants, synthetic thickeners, waterproofing polymers for the construction industry. It supplies water based wood coating products to the market under the brand name “U-coat”.

Company has its vision of being “the most respected chemical company in South Asia” under the scope, “Manufacturing of water based Polymer emulsions”. Its integrated management policy is designed addressing Eco-friendly product manufacturing, maintaining Technology leadership, Eco Innovation, Sustainable consumption, People empowerment, Customer focus, EHS excellence, simplicity and CSR activities.
