India stands as Sri Lanka’s largest source of tourism, its principal trade partner, and the foremost contributor to Foreign Direct Investment, said High Commissioner of India Santosh Jha. He was speaking as the chief guest at the 16th Annual General meeting of the Indo-Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ILCCI) at Taj Samudra, Colombo on August 8.
He outlined the importance of not merely capitalising on short-term opportunities, but also focusing on medium and long-term investments that will drive mutual growth for both countries. At the AGM M. Raghuraman was re-elected as the President of ILCCI. Raghuraman said, “Sri Lanka is fortunate to have India as a steadfast partner, especially during our darkest hours when India disbursed USD 4 billion in emergency assistance, along with vital food and medicine support. This unwavering commitment for Sri Lanka has been instrumental in helping us navigate through challenging times.” Krishna Selvanathan and Ashish Dubey were re-elected as Vice Presidents. . Romesh David remains as the Immediate Past President.
The new committee comprises representatives of Hemas Holdings, Indian Bank, John Keells Holdings, Lanka IOC, MAC Holdings, PGP Glass Ceylon, Sunshine Holdings, TAL Lanka Hotels with Mano Selvanathan, the Founder President of ILCCI and Counselor, Commercial and Economic of the High Commission of India as invitees.
