IBSL offers internship opportunities for students

The Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL) has opened opportunities for students following the Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF) and Higher Diploma in Banking and Finance (HDBF) to obtain work experience as an intern in a bank or non-bank financial institution.

Under this initiative the IBSL has entered to Training Partner agreements with many banks and the signing of an agreement with the State Mortgage and Investment Bank (SMIB) took place recently.

Director General of the IBSL, C. P. A. Karunatilake, Chairman, SMIBJoseph Soosaithasan and officials were present.

The IBSL also signed the Training Partner Agreement with Amana Bank.

This marks the seventh such agreement signed thus far. Signing of these agreements and its implementation have multiple benefits which includes students obtaining hands on experience on what they learn in the classroom and the opportunity of identifying prospective future employees, and IBSL can enhance the employability of students, who are mostly the school leavers.

IBSL has been a pioneer in providing qualifications, opportunities and guidance for employees in the banking and financial services industry to enhance their competencies to become professionals in the industry.

Last year the IBSL launched a new curriculum of the professional program to suit the changing business environment in banking and finance.

The Institution has partnered with the Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) enabling the students to obtain National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) so that their qualifications are recognised globally.
