Because he fearlessly came forward to save the nation– New Chairman of SLFP, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva
We support him because he was the leader who fearlessly saved the country when those who claimed they could not accept the responsibility assigned to them by the people. The second point is that after accepting the task, he put the country first over political gains and made fearless decisions on behalf of the country and provided relief to the people. The third point is that because he is a seasoned politician with international support. We gathered around him because he is a leader who has worked and shown his skills and is not one to purport short-sighted fairy tales and promises to hoodwink the people.

To be a part of the struggle to rebuild Sri Lanka – SLFP Secretary MP Duminda Dissanayake

Among the candidates running for President this time, there is one who has shown that they have worked for this country and that is Ranil Wickremesinghe, the incumbent President. We want to lift this fallen country, so we don’t want to reverse or knock his journey off-course. That is why the SLFP made this decision. During the mass protests amid the economic crisis, the SLFP supported Ranil Wickremesinghe to become President according to the Constitution. As a responsible party and as a party that has been in power for the longest time, we have a responsibility to come out at a time of crisis and make decisions for the good of the country.

Therefore, we chose Ranil Wickremesinghe. Now we have an opportunity to elect him. He is running as an independent candidate this year, so any party, including the SLFP, can partake in the struggle to rebuild the country while preserving its integrity.

He was the only one who stepped in to save the country from the economic crisis – SLPP MP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa

As the new alliance, we have decided to support the President.

At this time, we decided to support him in a difficult situation.

We believe that only he can pull this country out of the crisis that has arisen. No other candidate has this ability.

He was the only one who accepted the task of bringing Sri Lanka out of this crisis. A bankrupt country rebounded remarkably. It was in such a rare situation that his leadership was given and that leadership has become a great strength as a country today. We believe that we will be able to move forward for another five years. Under his leadership, we will be able to reach the goals that young people hope for in the future.

In face of crisis, Ranil Wickremesinghe took over the country unconditionally- State Minister of Social Empowerment Anupa Pasqual

The main reasons that influenced the decision to support the President at this time were the economic crisis. Gotabaya Rajapaksa came to power in 2019 with 6.9 million votes, but the country fell economically with the global pandemic. At that time, President Ranil Wickremesinghe took charge of the country and provided a successful solution.

The decline of the country’s economy was signalled by the decrease in foreign remittances from Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. With the collapse of the country’s economy, there was a huge crisis in the country. Jobs were lost and the construction sector collapsed. At the same time, an alternative leadership was pushed through it. Even though the position of Prime Minister was open to all, no one had the ability to take over the country in the face of this huge crisis and face those problems.

As this problem could not be solved, everyone avoided it. At that time Ranil Wickremesinghe unconditionally took over the country at a time of crisis. After that, under his leadership, he managed to build this country in the face of various challenges. Unpopular decisions were made. Therefore, he took unpopular decisions and brought the country to stability.

The country was built for the people to live by giving the highest priority. It was increased up to Rs. 180 billion for the people who have many difficulties economically through the relief; Rice was delivered. With the support of the IMF, we made ourselves acceptable again in front of the world and took steps to stabilise the country.

Also, he did not belong to any party and established relations with all countries including Japan, Russia, India, China and Arab countries. Mediation was followed with all countries. With the support of the IMF, which has the support of all countries, the country worked to bring inflation down to a single digit within a year.

Also, by giving concessions to certain parts of the country, arrangements were made to increase foreign remittances. The country was brought to a certain level of economic comfort. So we know who is the most suitable leader. The President made the country stable. Therefore, we reached a decision whether we will appoint a politically inexperienced leader as the leader or vote for President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Neither Sajith nor Anura have any plans to recover this country. If those promises come to power, only the 5 billion dollars we collected will have to be implemented. It will be over in five months. After that, fuel queues and gas queues will come again in this country.

If that happens, the country will end up in a lake of blood.

Sajith says he will shed his last drop of blood. Leaders are those who manages the country’s time and makes good decisions. There is only one such leader.

That is only the current President Ranil Wickremesinghe. The candidate we support as the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will win. I say that the candidate we support will win this election as well.

Think about the country and support President Wickremesinghe– Sri Lanka Mahajana Party Leader MP Asanka Navarathna

This year’s Presidential election is extremely crucial. In this Presidential election, especially party politics have been left aside; to take the current progress of this country further, we must work to re-appoint President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

At this time, he is running as an independent candidate. I, and all of our party, the People’s Party, are of the firm belief that we should support him for the sake of the country.

Instead of continuing to debate this matter and work based on the policies and philosophy of our party, we are adamant that the program started by the current President should continue for a certain period of time.

Especially when he took over this country, the country had suffered a major collapse.

There was an era of queuing in the country; but he gradually controlled these things. I believe that by giving him power for a certain period of time, he will be able to continue this program. The common people are requested to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe by thinking about the country at this time rather than hanging on to other political powers that are clinging to power.

Mandate should be given to Ranil for rescuing the country– MP Nimal Lanza

When Gotabaya Rajapaksa was brought to power, we opposed it. But the people of the country decided to make him President. Due to lack of political experience, he could not manage the country properly. Therefore, in the upcoming Presidential election, we say that someone who has experience in handling the country’s economy properly should be made President. Many people could not do politics after 2022 due to the terrorism of the JVP.

But now there is a situation in the country where anyone can do politics freely. Now the people are tired of politics. Political parties are fed up. Therefore, people understand politics in a different way. We have to understand the pulse of the people and we should understand it well. In the past, we continuously discussed who should be President of this country in the future. There we recognised the need to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe; there are many reasons for that. He got the ability to save the country from the crisis situation in the past. He should get the mandate in the future as well. Accordingly, we decided to support him.

President Wickremesinghe is the most deserving out of all candidates- Former MP Faizer Mustapha

The main reason why we support the President is that he took over the country and brought some stability when it was in an abyss.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country following mass protests. But Wickremesinghe did not do that. He accepted responsibility at that difficult time. After that, the country’s economy returned to stability.

Therefore, I think he is the best leader in this situation.

Also, I believe Wickremesinghe is the most deserving candidate of all.

He did all this with the Government that he took over from Gotabaya Rajapaksa. We have problems with some people in that Government.

After receiving the mandate, he will need to give a direct answer to those questions.

He gave leadership in the face of a crisis– SLPP MP Premnath C. Dolawatte

At a time when we were in a big crisis and no one came forward to take over, he came forward to save this country. If the President had not been appointed as the Acting Prime Minister then, the country would have been like Bangladesh today. What would have happened to civil life today? The country would have been completely anarchic. If that is the case, Government employees will not be able to receive their salaries.

We also had a similar situation. By becoming the Acting President, he became the President constitutionally. After that, he worked hard to recover this country. He has shown that he can rebuild this country. Only he could uplift Sri Lanka. I believe that he wants to give power to the people. We want to express our gratitude to him for making the country not like Bangladesh and make him President. Sri Lanka should be handed over to him for his leadership in the face of crisis.

Ranil Wickremesinghe took a very good approach to build the country – State Minister of Fisheries Piyal Nishantha

We feel that President Wickremesinghe is the most suitable candidate at this time with the opinion that he has adopted certain behaviour patterns of our party members at the ground level. He faced these challenges for the sake of the country and the people when the country fell.

For the people of the country, we need to decide at this time according to our conscience that he should be the President. We need to understand the public opinion in this country. Answers to these questions cannot be found without understanding.

Especially for tying the necklace, it is necessary to have a neck. We need to think about leadership who protected both neck and head. The people of this country were in a severe economic and social crisis, and he worked to bring the country out of the crisis.

In particular, we saw groups that put our party members under severe pressure in an unfair system.

We saw that President Wickremesinghe made a very good move at that time. Also, he took a good approach to solving economic and political social problems.

We supported it. In such a case, all the members of Parliament and everyone could have discussed with others and taken a suitable decision without going to each ideology.

We need to have a clear understanding about public opinion. We took this decision as a group that made a great commitment to protect the people of the country. He is the most suitable person to be the President at this moment.

President Wickremesinghe is the only one who can make good decisions for the country- Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera

If we experiment with this Presidential Election, the country will again face a major economic decline in five months. The President took over the country at a difficult time. I was entrusted with the production of food for the country. At that time, 29,000 million rupees should have been paid as loans to fertiliser companies. All that money was paid in two years. Also, the President as the Minister of Finance gave 50,000 rupees to farmers to purchase fertiliser in five cropping seasons from the 2022 Yala season to 2024 Yala season. So we were able to become self-sufficient in rice within two years.
