Samagi Jana Balawega (SJB) MP Patali Champika Ranawaka said that every citizen should come together to address the challenges facing the country. He said, “We must focus on working for the country’s benefit rather than on individual candidates’ victories or defeats. This is why we have reached. a national consensus to advance the SJB agenda.”

Ranawaka said, “We should relieve the people of their economic burdens. It is everyone’s duty to support a candidate who can provide leadership to address the country’s economic difficulties and resolve the issues the citizens face.”

“The country will face debt repayments for the next two decades,” he said. He highlighted the challenge of rescuing the country from where it stands today. Referring to the Aragalaya of 2022, Ranawaka said that attempts to change the Government through violent means were unsuccessful. He said that the Rajapaksas were criticised for bankrupting the country and stressed the importance of upholding the decision made by the people on June 9, 2022. “If we do not address our debt issues, we risk facing bankruptcy again,” he said.
