The Millennium Toastmasters Club ushered in its 25th installation at the Cinnamon Lakeside recently. The event took place in the presence of invitees including corporate players across different sectors and also officials and members of Toastmasters International District 82. Champion speaker Tharindu Ameresekere was installed as the new President of the club, along with the newly elected Executive Committee. The committee members include Banukrishanthini Balakrishnan (Vice President – Education), Kavithi Hewage (Vice President – Membership), Promodhya Abeysekara (Treasurer), Thisumi Sahansa (Vice President – Public Relations), Mohomed Shalim (Secretary), Janindu Sandanayake (Sergeant-at-arms), and Immediate Past President Kauminie Samarakoon.
The Millennium Toastmasters Club boasts a legacy of numerous successes in various aspects of Toastmasters over the decades.
Managing Director and CEO of JXG Group Ramesh Schaffter was the Chief Guest of the ceremony attended by charter member DTM Ajitha Goonewardene and former District Director DTM Ajantha Jayawardena. Former Toastmasters International President DTM Balraj Arunasalam and District 82 Director – 2024/25 Ganga Fernando also participated.
Newly elected President and a senior lecturer at PIM Tharindu Ameresekere stressed the importance of the club and the Toastmasters movement in empowering individuals to reach new heights in their careers.
The club also honoured several distinguished leaders, including charter member DTM Ajitha Goonewardene, DTM Ajantha Jayawardena, and Dr. Clive James, paying tribute to its illustrious history while looking forward to the future.
