General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP) Palitha Range Bandara has appointed Dennis Fernando as the UNP organiser for the Dodangoda and Mathugama electorates. Fernando is the nephew of the late Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma, UNP sources said yesterday.
Fernando, a post-graduate in Architecture from the University of Moratuwa, has served on the boards of the State Engineering Corporation, the Mahaweli Centre, and the Salacine Institute. He also worked as a private secretary to UNP parliamentarian Palitha Thewarapperuma who represented the Kalutara district and served as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs.
As an architect, Fernando has contributed to the University of Moratuwa’s Faculty of Architecture publications, including Architecture of Ambalama Buildings in Sri Lanka and Architecture of Tampita Vihara Buildings in Sri Lanka.
