Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa said that small and medium scale businessmen have faced much inconvenience and the Government’s tax policy is causing this distress.

He was peaking at a campaign rally at Sathipola Stadium, Mawathagama, Kurunegala.

Rajapaksa said, “At present production costs have increased and the incumbent Government is implementing an unfair tax policy together with high costs for electricity and transportation. The Government should implement a tax system that is affordable to the people.”

He said Treasury revenue will not increase by implementing a new tax policy that cannot be borne by the public. There is no justice for the people. Some politicians feel that it is cheaper to import food. These are the policies highlighted by these politicians,” he added.
