Krishani Dinethra of Flying Birds was adjudged Most Valuable Player in the women’s A Division
Flying Birds SC and United SC emerged champions in the women’s and men’s categories respectively at the Western Province Netball Tournament that was held at the NYSC ground in Maharagama on August 25.
Flying Birds SC beat Speedbirds SC narrowly by 16 points to 15 in the exciting final.
United SC beat Flying Birds SC by a huge margin of 22 points to just 5 in the men’s final.
Our Lady of Victories Convent emerged as the schools over-17 champions while Visakha Balika Vidyalaya ended as the schools under-17 champions.
The tournament was organized by the Western Province Netball Association and 28 school teams and 14 club teams participated.
Bernadine de Silva was the Chief Guest and presented the awards.
