ACCA celebrates outstanding achievements at prize award ceremony

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) recently hosted the Prize Winners Award Ceremony on August 27th, 2024, at the BMICH, Colombo. The event, graced by the presence of senior Prof. P M C THilakarathen, Vice Chancellor, Open University Sri Lanka, recognized and honored ACCA’s high-achieving affiliates who have demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the field of accounting.

CHaaminda Kumarasiri, Chairmen of the ACCA Member Network Panel, congratulated all ACCA prize winners and affiliates for their outstanding accomplishments and emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and the cultivation of skills in digitalization, ESG and sustainability, communication, and ethics. Emphasizing the role of finance professionals as agents of positive change, he stated, “Today, more than ever before, our country needs skilled, committed, and ethical finance professionals with passion and purpose to make a difference.”

Prof. THilakarathne, chief guest at the occasion emphasized that this is just the beginning. The knowledge and skills you have gained will open doors to new opportunities and allow you to make a significant impact in the world of finance and beyond. ACCA is one of the globally recognized qualifications and earning it is no small feat. It speaks to your professionalism, your expertise, and your readiness to make a significant impact in the world of finance and accounting. ‘

Bringing much pride to both ACCA and Sri Lanka were a host of high achievers totalling 49 Sri Lankan prize winners and 74 affiliates. Their outstanding achievement stood not only as a testament to their personal commitment but also as a tribute to the unwavering dedication of ACCA, that nurtured their success.

Emerging as the cream of the crop were the distinguished top affiliates that included Jayashni Rodrigo for September 2023, Thanuli Dewmini Jayawardena December 2023, Fathima Ammaarah Munas March 2024, and Ramaluxmmy Ramalingam for June 2024.

Nilusha Ranasinghe, Head of South Asia at ACCA, congratulating the high achievers, stressed on the importance of ACCA’s values in shaping these professionals into ambassadors for the industry, promoting accountability, diversity, opportunity, innovation, and integrity.

As the ceremony drew to a close, ACCA Sri Lanka celebrated not only the achievements of its prize winners but also its enduring commitment to nurturing exceptional finance professionals who embody the highest standards of expertise and ethics. ACCA remains committed towards building a qualification that meets the emerging trends in accountancy and is positioned today as undoubtedly one of the most trusted and sought-after accounting qualifications across the globe, that is respected and accredited by both employers and the industry.
