Nethmi Fernando, Sri Lanka’s bronze medallist in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham in 2022, won another bronze medal at the World Under-20 wrestling championship held in Spain yesterday.
Taking part in the Kg 53 class Nethmi entered the semi-final and against a Chinese woman she did very well to finish equal on points. However she was declared the loser to the Chinese woman in the final countdown.
It deprived Nethmi of a silver medal and she had to contest the bronze medal match and won quite easily.
