Vietnam has outperformed neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia to be named “Asia’s Leading Destination” at this year’s World Travel Awards.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Vietnam has claimed this title.

The country’s success is attributed to its relaxed visa policies and effective tourism promotion strategies, which have made Vietnam an increasingly popular destination for international tourists.

In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam welcomed over 11 million foreign visitors, a 45.8% increase year-on-year and 1% higher than pre-Covid levels, with South Koreans and Chinese driving the increase.

Late last month, 4,500 employees from Sun Pharmaceuticals, a major Indian company owned by Dilip Shanghvi, India’s fifth-richest individual, arrived in Vietnam for an incentive tour, visiting Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Ha Long Bay.

They had originally planned to visit Singapore but ultimately decided on Vietnam.
