A program has been launched to attract foreign tourists visiting Sri Lanka to a guided tour of the Lake House building which offers a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s journalistic heritage and the legacy of a pioneering entrepreneur.
The program was launched on the concept of Lake House Chairman Prof. Harendra Kariyawasam. Commissioned by D. R. Wijewardene, this white monumental structure has long dominated the Colombo skyline. Designed by the architect Sir Oliver Weerasinghe, Lake House blends traditional Sri Lankan and European colonial architectural elements, symbolising the country’s nationalist fervour and cultural pride.
