People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) ’s Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said that the election was held successfully with minimal electoral disruptions.
“It was conducted so peacefully that if a foreigner had visited Sri Lanka today (polling day) he would not have noticed that there was an election ongoing,” said Hettiarachchi. He said that although there had been reports of 40 incidents, there was none that could affect the result of the election. The election was conducted quite well enforcing its law to the letter, he added.
