Nawaloka Hospitals led by veteran Samath Ruberu will make a desperate attempt to get their hands on the glittering ‘NDB Trophy’, which they missed last year, having lost to DFCC Bank, when they meet LOLC Holdings in the final of the Fourth National Development Bank sponsored – MCA ‘C’ division 50 Over League Tournament 2024, on Sunday, (29) at the Bloomfield ground, Reid Avenue, commencing at 9:45 am.
The finalists, Nawaloka Hospitals and LOLC Holdings were not able to access their strength and weakness, as their league game on July 17 at the MCA ground was completely washed out. Nawaloka Hospitals on their way to the final finished on top of the leader board, with three wins and one no-result in the League round. They beat David Pieris Group ‘A’ by four wickets, beat MAS Unichela by 28 runs and beat Commercial Bank ‘A’ by 27 runs on the DLS method. Their match against LOLC Holdings ended in a no-result due to bad weather.
In the knock-out semi-finals, they once again beat David Pieris Group of Companies ‘A’ by 42 runs.
Their top performers were Thaveesha A Kahaduwaarachchi (5 innings, 376 runs, inclusive of 5 half centuries), Thiwanka Kekulawala (5 innings, 175 runs inclusive of 2 half centuries and 12 wickets), Lakshan Ruwantha (6 wickets) and Samila Nadeesh (5 wickets).
On their way to the final LOLC Holdings finished second in the leader board in the League stage with two wins and two no results. They beat Commercial Bank by 117 runs and beat MAS Unichela by 12 runs and their matches against Nawaloka Hospitals and David Pieris Group of Companies ‘A’ were washed out.
In the knock-out semi-finals, they once again beat MAS Unichela by 82 runs on the DLS Method. Their top performers were Lahiru Attanayake (3 innings, 1 half century), Sayuru Udukumbura (6 wickets), Vinod Madushan (6 wickets) and Dhanushka Udara (6 wickets).
