This week the Youth Observer reached out to a gorgeous Sri Lankan in Japan, Nethu Patali Pamalka, the second runner-up at the Mr., Mrs. and Miss Sri Lanka competition – Japan Pageant 2024.

She was also honoured with the titles and best figure and the best cat walk.

In conversation with Patali here’s what we found out:

Q: How did you get into modeling?

A: I got into modeling through Japan Pageant 2024. I studied modeling when I was in Sri Lanka but I couldn’t pursue it further.

Q: What is your favourite thing about modeling?

A: I like everything about modeling, all the different kinds of modeling. I especially love to be a ramp model and also I would love to learn more about it and teach others everything I learnt about it.

Q: What is your experience with the Pageant?

A: I actually got the experience of a lifetime. I learnt so much about the industry, how to build up my confidence and how to face various challenges. Many industry professionals shared their experience with us and that was very insightful.

Q: Tell us a few things you learnt from the Pageant that you will take throughout your career?

A: I have gotten a lot of confidence from the pageant. I am a business woman in Japan and this confidence is actually helping me succeed in my other careers as well. I will take all the lessons I got through this pageant with me for the rest of my career.

Q: Do you have an idol and why do you like them?

A: I don’t have a lot of experience in the industry, I would like you to learn more and get better in the industry. I really adore all the models in the industry.

Q: If someone could play you in a movie who would it be?

A: I think if someone is to play me it is best to be me. I am interested in dwelling in acting a little bit and I am happy to share my experience.

Q: What is the best advice you have gotten?

A: The best advice I have gotten in my life is to ‘Never give up’. Actually it was my mom who gave me this advice and I am so grateful for it.

Q: What are your plans for the next year?

A: I am rather busy with my business and I plan on continuing my modeling career. I have a few things lined up, I am not too sure of the dates, however I plan on doing it properly.

Q: Tell me your opinion of Sri Lankan beauty pageants?

A: I think they are really good, they are in the same standard as international pageants and I think they do a great job in showcasing talents of Sri Lankan models

Q: What advice will you give up and coming models?

A: I would say, have a goal and do your best to reach it.
