Travel Trade cricket Sixes revived after four years

A total of 69 men’s teams and 18 women’s teams have been attracted to the 43rd Travel Trade Sports Club Softball Cricket Sixes 2024, sponsored for the 19th year by Aitken Spence Travels to be held today (6)at the Shalika ground and DS Senanayake College ground, commencing 7.45 am.

The 69 men’s teams, pooled into 23 groups of three teams each will be firstly conducted on a league and then on a knock-out basis on five pitches at both venues. The 18 women’s teams will play on a knock-out basis on one pitch at the Shalika ground only.

The tournament is revived after a lapse of four years and was last held in 2019, at the Steel Corporation ground, Athurugiriya, where 43 men’s teams and 14 women’s teams participated.

Blue Water, Wadduwa retained the men’s title beating SriLankan Airlines and Amaya Lake Dambulla retained the women’s title, beating Cinnamon Grand Colombo. (TBR)
