Attorney-at-Law Dr. Sunil Abeyaratne is contesting for the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) presidency for 2025-2026.
A former Secretary (2006-2008) and Assistant Secretary (2004-2005), Abeyaratne has held various roles within the oganisation.
Dr. Abeyaratne enrolled as an Attorney-at-law in 1986 and has built a career in civil, criminal, commercial and public law, practicing in appellate and first-instance courts. He is also an International Commercial Arbitrator, having qualified at the Centre of Commercial Law Studies in London. He has written over 100 articles for national and international law journals and presented over 100 research papers nationally and internationally.
He is recognised as a pioneer in ICT law in Sri Lanka, earning his PhD in ICT Law from the University of Colombo.
