Bentota Ceysands and Araliya Resorts

NH Bentota Ceysands Resort and Araliya Resorts and Spas emerged as the new winners at the 43rd Travel Trade Sports Club men’s and women’s softball cricket Sixes respectively, sponsored by Aitken Spence Travels for the 19th time at the Shalika ground in Colombo last Sunday.

In the men’s tournament contested by 69 teams, NH Bentota Ceysands Resort beat Wild Coast Tented Lodge, Yala by 18 runs in the final and in the women’s tournament Araliya Resorts and Spas beat Acorn Group by five wickets in the final with 18 teams in the fray.

In the play-off for the third place in the men’s tournament, Cinnamon Bay Beruwala beat Cinnamon Wild Yala and in the women’s tournament, Connaissans de Ceylan beat Sofia Colombo.

Men’s Tournament results:

Semi-finals: Cinnamon Bay, Beruwala 35/2 lost to Wild Coast, Yala, 37/1; Bentota Ceysands, 70/1 beat Cinnamon Wild, Yala, 35/4.

Third place: Cinnamon Wild, Yala, 29/4 lost to Cinnamon Bay, Beruwala 32/1
Final: NH Bentota Ceysands Resort 56 for 3 in 4 overs beat Wild Coast Tented Lodge Yala 38 for 4 in 4 overs.

Women’s tournament results:

Semi-finals: Connaissance de Ceylan, 50/2 lost to Araliya Resort, 53/0; Sofia Colombo, 61/2 lost to Acorn Group 64/0.

Third place: Sofia Colombo 58/2 lost to Connaissance de Ceylan 64/1

Final: Acorn Group: 62/1 in 4 overs lost to Araliya Resorts 65 for 0 in 3.1 overs.
