Former Kingswood College, Kandy Sports Club and Sri Lankal rugby player Rizmeer Jabbar recently celebrated the second anniversary of Rugby with Jabbar, a concept that offers training sessions for young rugby enthusiasts aged six and above held every Sunday at the Peradeniya University ground starting at 7 a.m.

Jabbar, who played for Kingswood from 2002 to 2004 under the guidance of the legendary Fazil Marija, later joined Kandy Sports Club, where he played for over eight years and was a key player for both the Sevens and XVs formats, representing Sri Lanka in numerous international tours, including one to South Africa, Thailand and the UAE.

The Rugby with Jabbar coaching staff also includes Lt Cdr Vishwajith Marasinghe, who represented Navy from 2009 to 2012 and managed both the men’s and women’s Navy rugby teams.

Joining the team are fellow Kingswoodians Chulaka Abeysinghe, Mohamed Rizvi and Mohamed Rimzi, adding to the strength of the coaching panel.

Currently, more than 60 juniors participate in the sessions, which are further supported by Jabbar’s colleagues from the banking sector, including Ruwan Fernando, Malith Kumarage and Nalaka Amarasinghe.
