SpeedBay will inaugurate a 12 hour Endurance Karting Championship in Sri Lanka for the first time on October 19 at SpeedBay Bandaragama.
The event will test the drivers’ stamina, focus, strategy and team work and elevate them to new heights as teams of drivers take turns to navigate aiming to complete the most number of laps within the 12 hour limit.
Success in the race will require not only speed but also well-timed strategic manoeuvres and thorough thought driver line-up for each team.
Earlier this year, SpeedBay hosted a 6-hour endurance championship, which was marked by intense and neck-to-neck racing.
A number of teams will compete to claim the podium and the exact number of participating teams is yet to be confirmed.
Each team is allowed to field a maximum of six drivers, requiring precise teamwork and strategy. Team managers and pit crews will also play a vital role, with fast pit stops and strategic planning essential for success.
“Hosting a 12-hour endurance race in Sri Lanka marks a significant milestone for the local motorsport scene. After the success and intense competition of our 6-hour event earlier this year, we wanted to take it to the next level.
“This is a challenge unlike any other in Sri Lanka and we’re excited to see how our local talent rises to meet it. The enthusiasm from both racers and fans has been overwhelming and we believe this will set a new standard for endurance karting in the region,” said Eshan Pieris, Chairman – David Pieris Racing & Leisure.
