The standard of badminton in the country has dropped to such low levels that Sri Lanka has found it difficult to find competing slots in foreign tournaments.

One such instance was when an Asian Championship was held Sri Lanka was not included as the players could not match standards.

Despite the setbacks it is now reported that badminton officials are in the process of making arrangements for a set of women’s players to tour Japan to play friendly matches.

Critics claim it is more of a sight-seeing trip that is to be funded by an official and the players will be between the ages of 20 and 40 years.

The players are set to take off in the final week of October on the week-long trip.
