The Bank of Ceylon (BOC), in its continuing mission to empower the youth of the nation launched its new remittance and Savings Scheme ‘Smart Freelancer’, recently, designed specifically for freelancers engaged in online platform-based work, and for online entrepreneurs.

This scheme aims to provide a host of banking solutions to fulfil the distinctive needs of freelancers and entrepreneurs working online, who earn through reputed digital platforms, including Fiverr, Freelancer.com, Upwork, YouTube, Work.lk, Kolable, Seocleark, GURU.com, People Per Hour, and similar platforms acceptable to the Bank.

The ‘Smart Freelancer’ Savings Scheme is available in both Sri Lankan Rupees and Foreign Currencies to suit the diverse requirements of freelancers. The Smart Freelancer PFC (Personal Foreign Currency) and Smart Freelancer BFC (Business Foreign Currency) allows remittances in major foreign currencies such as USD, GBP, EUR, JPY, CAD, AUD, and SGD.

The product also offers a host of unique benefits over Ordinary Savings accounts to empower the dynamic freelancers, including higher return on deposits, special exchange rates for converting foreign currencies from Smart Freelancer PFC/BFC accounts to LKR transfers, and fast fund transfer via ‘VISA Direct’ facility ensuring quick access to funds.

Freelancers opening the account can obtain a Credit Card for which the joining fee is completely waived off. The digital offerings of the Bank such as Smart Online Banking, B App, Smart Passbook, WhatsApp Banking, e-statements and SMS facilities are linked to the new scheme enabling the accountholders with the convenience and flexibility to manage their accounts on-the-go.

More information on the product can be obtained through the Bank’s corporate website (boc.lk) and at any Bank of Ceylon branch.

Available through Bank of Ceylon’s entire island wide branch network, the Smart Freelancer account further enhances its outreach to all segments of society.
