Industrialists in Sri Lanka should be given ‘pride of place’ as they are a vital facet of a nation’s success and they generate employment providing higher standard of living to society, said Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) Chairman, Kevin Edwards.

He was speaking at the CNCI Achiever Awards ceremony. The Print Media sponsor of the event again was the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited. “They maintain very high manufacturing standards and quality and while being on par with international brands and have a very good potential for exports.”

“Sri Lankans thus should be more loyal to local brands which will benefit us and save much needed foreign exchange. CNCI is confident the government will have a serious evaluation of the locally produced goods and take measures to permit such imports on specific standards and high import tariffs.”

“However, it is the obligation of the local industrialists to ensure their products meet the entire local need”.

“CNCI with a history of over 60 years, was the first to design such an awarding scheme for the Sri Lankan Industry solely for the Manufacturing & Service Sector Enterprises, thereby recognizing the Sri Lankan Industries for their success and achievements.”

Following are the top 10 winners: Royal Ceramics Lanka, Haycarb, Freelan Enterprises, S and D Chemicals, Pussalla Meat Producer, Hayleys Fentons, Alumex, Flexiprint, Rocell Bathware and Teejay Lanka.
