A long-held dream of Myliddi North Kalaimagal Maha Vidyalayam in Kankesanthurai became a reality on October 11, 2024 with the ceremonial opening of its newly constructed Main Hall.
This much-needed facility, pivotal for the school’s educational and extracurricular activities was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the SLAF as part of its SLAF’s 73rd anniversary community development projects.
Founded in 1818, the school has a rich history, but faced significant challenges, including its takeover into the High Security Zone in 1990 due to the conflict.
After recommencing in 2018, the school sought major renovations, with the Main Hall construction being one of its most pressing needs.
The SLAF took on the project as a priority, bringing new life to the institution and supporting its mission of providing quality education.
The ceremonial opening was graced by Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, as the chief guest.
The event also highlighted the SLAF’s broader efforts under the ‘Magen Pothak Uthurata’ literacy drive, through which the SLAF donated books to schools across the Northern Province, including Myliddi North Kalaimagal Maha Vidyalayam.
