Broadview Press in Canada has published a digital collection titled Broadview British Bookshelf. It consists of volumes taken from Broadview publications which include a valuable, long Introduction and extracts from the author’s letters and other works, the first and later reviews to suggest the work’s contemporary and later reception, and historical documents meant to evoke the context from which the work emerged. The selected volumes are key texts from medieval times to the early twentieth century, which amount to not just a literary history but a social, political and cultural history as well. It includes our own Professor (Emeritus) D.C.R.A. Goonetilleke’s widely acclaimed edition of Joseph Conrad: Heart of Darkness.
Broadview British Bookshelf is available for purchase by institutions as well as individuals.
