Sri Lanka woman to umpire T20 final

Sri Lankan women’s cricket umpire Nimali Perera and New South Wales umpire Claire Polosak will officiate as on-field umpires in their first ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final today in Dubai.

The match will be contested by South Africa and New Zealand with play scheduled to start at 7.30 pm Sri Lanka time.

The result will also mark a new women’s champion at the T20 World as both countries have never won the even mostly dominated by Australia who were knocked out by South Africa in the semi finals.

Nimali Perera stood in the semi-final between Australia and South Africa and also officiated at last year’s semi-final between Australia and India.

Apart from Nimali Perera another Sri Lanka woman Michelle Pereira officiated as a match referee in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
