Promising Sri Lanka motor racer Yevan David became the first Sri Lankan to compete and win in the EuroFormula category when he triumphed last week in Monza, Italy.
In what was said to be one of the toughest races, the 17-year old Yevan won driving on a rain hit slippery tarmac having progressed to EuroFormula from Formula 4 racing showing his undeniable prowess in skill and dexterity behind the wheel to outsmart his opposing drivers, some of whom were among the favourites to win.
One of the rival drivers that Yevan conquered was Fernando Barrichello who is the son of former Brazilian Formula One racer Rubens Barrichello
According to commentators and race experts, Yevan’s victory was a testament to his rise from almost nowhere within a short span of time that could put Sri Lanka on the global map of Formula racing.
His Sri Lankan admirers say his next move to graduate in Formula 3 and 2 racing is visible on the horizon as he showed excellent temperament and composure throughout the race in Monza in some of the most trying conditions.
