Sri Lanka led by Dulangi Wannitilleka produced a fine display to enter the final when they beat Hong Kong 71-47 in the semi final at the 13th Asia Cup Netball championship at Bengalaru, India yesterday. The win was Sri Lanka’s seventh after a record six back to back league round matches.
In fact the Sri Lanka lasses dominated the semi final from the first quarter to beat their opponents in great style while goal shooter Thisala Algama was outstanding and netted for the 57th time for a 24 points victory margin.
Sri Lanka took an early lead 18-9 at the first quarter while they added a further 18 points in the second quarter to finish at half time 36-21.
The third set produced some outstanding passing in a well controlled the game and recorded the highest 21 points while Hong Kong managed to get just nine points to stretch the lead 57-30 after the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter Sri Lanka the defending champions rested a few players but the team was able to continue their momentum to finish the game adding a further 14 points while Hong Kong made a comeback to score 17 points.
In the process Sri Lanka reached the Asia Cup final for the seventh time.
Sri Lanka will meet Singapore in the final.
