On 28 October, Ananda College came alive with AEROGENE’24, the eagerly anticipated annual aeronautical event organised by the Aeronautical Academy. Graced by Air Vice Marshal Thushara Sirimanne as the chief guest, AEROGENE’24 brought together around 300 participants from 30 schools across Sri Lanka, offering students a unique platform to engage in aviation-focused activities, from challenging quizzes to interactive exhibits.
The event underscored the academy’s dedication to nurturing future aviators and advancing aeronautical education in schools.
Founded in 2005, the Aeronautical Academy of Ananda College has established itself as a leading force in school aviation, regularly conducting workshops, lectures, and competitive events. This commitment to excellence has made the academy a pioneer in aviation education, encouraging students to “aspire to conquer the skies.”
This year’s event also featured the highly competitive aeronautical quiz, which saw Taxila Central College emerge as champions, with Nalanda College as runners-up and D.S. Senanayake College in third place. The quiz added a thrilling dimension to the day, engaging participants in a rigorous test of their aviation knowledge and skills.
Adding to the academy’s legacy, last December’s AeroGlideX at Ratmalana Airport showcased the academy’s innovative approach to aviation events. AeroGlideX featured a captivating drone show along with paper plane and drone competitions, marking the first school aviation event of its kind in Sri Lanka.
This groundbreaking experience set the stage for AEROGENE’24, drawing students further into the world of aviation.
AEROGENE’24 stands as a testament to Ananda College’s ongoing commitment to fostering interest in aeronautics among young minds.
By offering unique opportunities for practical engagement and friendly competition, the academy continues to inspire students across Sri Lanka to explore new heights in aviation.
