The Department of Immigration and Emigration has received 50,000 ‘P’ series blank passports under the agreement entered into with the foreign company which was awarded the tender to purchase passports.

The Department will receive another 750,000 blank passports in due course. Of that, nearly 100,000 passports will be received by the end of this month and 150,000 next month, a media release issued by the Department of Immigration and Emigration stated.

The procurement for another stock of blank passports has already commenced.

The Department of Immigration and Emigration now issues nearly 1,600 passports daily. The Department will increase the number of passports from the beginning of next month to meet the demand. The Department of Immigration and Emigration has taken steps to draw up an online method in due course for applicants to make to reserve a date and time to hand over the documents.
