Mercantile basketball enters final stages

With the Mercantile Basketball tournament towards its final stages many of the teams have performed well and had close contests in their fixtures played at the Royal Indoor Stadium last week.

Sampath Bank B team had a narrow win over DFCC Bank by 73 points to 65. The game had either side taking turns at scoring the baskets but Sampath Bank had a slight edge with Maduranga Munasinghe scoring 21 points to steal the game from DFCC Bank.

Sampath Bank B beat DFCC Bank 73-65.

Scorers for Sampath Bank were Maduranga Munasinghe 21, Senuda Jayamanne 12 and Mohamad Shammi 12.

Scorers for DFCC were Prageeth Pushpakumara 24, Manjula Jayarathne 12 and Shenal Perera 10.

In another closely contested game Allianz Insurance beat SriLankanAirlines by 76 points to 72 in a high scoring game that could have gone either way.

Scorers for Allianz Insurance were Disura Dissanayake 17, Dulmina Nethsara 13 and Dulina 13.

Scorers for SriLanka Airlines were Rayan Jayarathne 17 and Shalin Cakeshetty 15.

Despite Rukshan Atapattu doing most of the scoring with 55 points Code Gen International went down to NDB Bank by 78 points to 70.

Scorers for NDB were Dasun Ranasundara 22, Vishad Fernando 17 and Sanka Saluwathura 12.

Scorer for Code Gen International was Rukshan Atapattu 55.

Moresand beat Crepe Runner 90-65.

Scorers for Moresand were Stephan Evangelo 35, Keshan Gayanga 15 and Lloyd Angelo 15.

Scorers for Crepe Runner were Ersha Rodrigo 15, Yashoda Jayaweera 13 and Chamodya Gunasekera 12.

Seylan Bank beat Hatton National Bank 64-51.

Scorers for Seylan Bank were Chanuka Fernando 18, Sasindu Gajanayake 18 and Andre de Silva 14.

Scorers for HNB were Kanishka Vishvanath 18, Sakindu W 14 and Deriter M 10.

CDB Finance beat John Keells Holdings 63-53.

Scorers for CDB Finance were Malshan Rumiz 20, Kebvin Vivekshan 20 and Kasun Thamel 10.

Scorers for John Keells were Panduka Gajamange 21, Chandithya H 11 and Ashan Goonesinghe 10.

Muve Colombo beat HSBC 73-50.

Scorers for Muve Colombo were Rajitha Hettiarachchi 17, Abdul Kaldeen 15 and Duane Louve 14.

Scorers for HSBC were Nadeesh Kumar 14, Sithum Edirisinghe 13 and Shehan Perera 10.

CDB Finance beat Hatton National Bank 82-43.

Scorers for CDB were Dilshan Fernando 17, Milan Chathuranga 14 and Kevin Vivekshan 13.

Scorers for HNB were Deriter Marasinghe 12, Sakanda Wickrama 9 and Masitha Dewapriya 9.

Seylan Bank beat Sampath Bank A 68-55.

Scorers for Seylan Bank were Chanuka Fernando 19, Sasindu Gajanayake 15 and Andre de Silva 14.

Scorers for Sampath Bank A were Isuru Weerakoon 13 and Yuganan Baskaran 12.

David Pieris group beat John Keells Holdings 86-65.

Scorers for David Pieris Group were Aazir Mohamed 22, Sujintharam Balakumaran 21 and Imaadh Hussain 16.

Scorers for John Keells were Chadiya Hettiarachchi 16, Hirun Wickremasinghe 16 and Panduka Gajamange 13.

Alianz Insurance beat Muve Colombo 77-64.

Scorers for Alianz Insurance were Disura Dissanayake 22, Aaron Fonseka 22 and Dulina 19.

Scorers for Muve Colombo were Abdul Kaldeen 21, Duane Lowe 15 and Rajitha Hettiarachchi 14.

Travelling Bruncher beat HSBC 71-36.

Scorers for Travelling Bruncher were Manjula Senanayake 15, Lumal Soysa 17, Ranja Nilaweera 10 and Lankesh Sungthilaka 10.

Scorer for HSBC was Nadeesh Kumar 15.
