Kandy Sports Club beat promoted team Sri Lions in a warm-up practice game on Friday at Nittawela ahead of the new inter club League rugby season scheduled to begin end of November.
Kandy SC which ended runners-up to CR and FC last season, won 19-10 against Sri Lions who won the B division title last season to earn a promotion.
The entry of Sri Lions into the fray is expected to add some sparkle to the inter club league which in recent years had lost some of its glamour with eight Kandy SC or CR and FC the fancied teams most of the time.
Nilfer for Vidyartha
Former Kingswood College and Kandy SC player Nilfer Ibrahim who coached St. Joseph’s College at the last inter-school rugby season has been enlisted as the new coach of Vidyartha College.
He will be assisted by Radeesha Seneviratne as the forwards coach and Anurudda Wilvara as the backs coach.
