The acceptance of manuscripts for the Vidarshana Literary Prize 2025 is now open. Manuscripts can be submitted until March 31, 2025. This year marks the second Vidarshana Literary Prize, which has been expanded to include five categories. Manuscripts may be submitted under the following categories: novels, short stories, poetry, translated English, and translated Sinhala.
The manuscript evaluation process consists of three stages. The first stage involves longlisting the submitted manuscripts. In the second stage, a shortlist of three names will be announced. Among these, the manuscript entitled ‘Vidarshana Prize’ will be selected. A unique aspect of the Vidarshana Literary Prize is that the authors’ names are not disclosed to the jury until the winning manuscript is chosen.
The ‘Vidharshana Prize’ will be awarded for the best manuscript in each category, including a cash prize of Rs. 150,000, while each shortlisted manuscript will receive a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. Manuscripts may be submitted as printed copies or PDF files, typed and paginated in FM Abhaya 12 font or Unicode characters.
The application form, details, and further information are available on the Vidarshana Prize Facebook page. The award ceremony will take place in August 2025.
