Since 1973, the department of Library and Information Science Studies, University of Kelaniya has been producing qualified library professionals to meet local and international needs.
The certificate awarding ceremony for those who successfully completed the Diploma Courses conducted by the Department was held recently at the Kelaniya University Faculty of Social Sciences Auditorium. Dr. Patrick McNamara, Executive Director of the America-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission, participated as the Chief Guest. He delivered a lecture titled “Living is impossible without books.”
Prof. M.M. Gunathilaka, Dean of the Faculty of social Sciences, presided over the event, with Prof. M.K. Weerasinghe, Sectional Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Prof. W.A. Weerasooriya and other teaching staff also in attendance.
ANCL Media Library staffers Chintha Sanjeewanie Senarathne, Rangika Pathirana and Gamini Nishantha Abeysinghe were among those who received certificates on the occasion.
