EC on State and private sector voting at general election

The Election Commission(EC) has drawn attention to its media release No PE/2024/52 of November 2, 2024 issued on granting leave to the state and private sector employees to cast their votes at the November 14 Parliamentary Election without losing their leave or subjecting employees to any pay cuts.

The Election Commission has informed the Chairman of the University Grants Commission to grant leave for the staff and students to cast their vote at the upcoming Parliamentary election.

Private universities and higher education institutions have also been called upon to grant leave to the staff and students in their institutions for them to cast their vote at the election.

The names of the youth voters born before May 3I, 2006 and completing I8 years of age, are also registered in the electoral register and the managers and teachers

of tuition classes have been called upon to conduct tuition classes without denying the students’ right to cast their vote at the upcoming Parliamentary election, a media release issued by the Commissioner General of Elections, Saman Sri Rathnayake stated yesterday.
